ALBUM PREMIERE: THE BLANK TAPES “CANDY”
“The Blank Tapes have a new album called Candy out today, and it’s got a little Loaded VU on the title track, a little Muswell Kinks, a little Dead-ly laid-back-ness—let “Let Yourself Get Down” wash over you, gently—and even some of that positively narcotic Jesus and Mary Chain charm. (“Feels Like Summer,” for sure—this record naturally has a lot of candy and hardly any psycho.) Closer “Other Places” is like one of those spaced-out Pink Floyd songs designed to just drift away into the night sky, and that’s the best possible way to finish this thing off: not flying, but floating. Candy is available now on three different colored LPs, and you can get it here. The Blank Tapes will be touring Europe at the end of August—full dates for that here—but of course they’ve got local shows, too, with an Ace Hotel Palm Springs set tonight and July gigs at the Hi-Hat and the Wayfarer—full summer 2018 west coast tour info below!”
